Tilden Drama is the extracurricular theater program at Tilden Middle School in Rockville, MD. Under the direction of Mr. Tory Shaw since 2005, it has produced 31 full-length shows. Tilden Drama produces two major theatrical productions each school year — a Fall/Winter play and a Spring musical — and is a welcoming, inclusive program where interested Tilden students in grades 6-8 can join, either by auditioning for the Cast or participating in the Stage Crew.

Our program is unique in that the productions are of a size and quality not typically seen on middle school stages. Past shows have include the “full versions” of Into the Woods, Cats, Oklahoma!, The Wizard of Oz, and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. While the program requires a strong commitment from all participants, our main focus is on building long-lasting positive relationships among our students, teaching the students the value of a strong work ethic, and nurturing student confidence and self-esteem through creative expression in a supportive environment. Middle school can be a difficult and challenging time, and Tilden Drama provides a safe space where students can work together towards a common goal of creating memorable theatrical productions.
